You can save a great deal of money by thinking out of the box
We have started on a new project at 1902. We want to spice up our website by adding video blogs, or rather video introductions to many of the pages. The idea is to show that 1902 has a human face, introduce some of the people working at 1902 and basically make everything more appealing.
Knowing absolutely nothing about video recording I have spend some time investigated / trail and error on different approaches. First I started out by using a WebCam, this is basically version 1. The results were not that good.
One of the things I quickly found out was that we need proper lighting. The other day I set out to purchase video light and I soon found out that professional lighting is prohibitively expensive. It turned out that an okay light system costs around $500. Knowing nothing about light and thinking out of the box I went to a hardware store, here the prices were different!
I managed to pick up a light set (see the image below) for $35! I’m not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but when I looked at the output using a $500 video camera I really cannot see the difference. I also purchased a Bluetooth wireless microphone greatly improving the video sound (by not using the microphone build into the camera).

Now that we have all the system in place stay tuned for many videos on both http://www.1902software.dk and http://www.1902software.com websites.
